Today I'd like to take a walk down memory lane and share the reasons why I launched a career coaching certification program--and why I'm beyond excited to have received the news yesterday that my level one accreditation was approved!



About three decades ago I received my Master of Science of Degree in Career Development. After school, I was hired as the Associate Director of the career center for a small private liberal arts college. I spent eight years helping traditional college-age students. It was rewarding and comfortable--and I had the itch to do more.

In 1997 I quit my university job and opened my career coaching business. Soon after, I invented and released Elevations, an integrated career assessment helping you prioritize your values, enjoyable skills, interests, and temperament preferences. In my private practice, I worked with mid to upper-level professionals and delivered training for talent in organizations.

Over time, I deepened my love for the career coaching craft and polished my skills. This eventually led to the development of the Elevate Career Cycle Model and the publication of my first book, Elevate Your Career: Live a Life You're Truly Proud Of.

All of this culminated in one pivotal moment in early 2020. I was walking through the open space near my home, shut down from all my work due to the pandemic.

It was a stunning, sunny spring day. My mind was empty and my heart was open. The thought occurred, "What am I going to do?" The answer was immediate--I would use my expertise and resources to launch a career coaching certification program.

Where did that crystal clear idea come from? Honestly, I cannot tell you but I was sure it was the right next step. Like so many of my ventures, I had no clue how much work it would entail.

That brings me to this moment. We are on our way to my vision: to be the premiere ICF-accredited career coaching certification program.
